Self Analysis and Astrology

Astrologer has to be a good Counselor . If they are just interested in making money then one needs to be careful. Someone who is pursuing astrology as a carrier needs to pay his bills. So one needs to do their due diligence to goto a good person who has a balance of good counseling and professionalism. (Probably you should feel more positive after talking to a counselor than before consultation)

I think it is a nature of a week mind that it wants to have a reason for failure and most of the time the reasons are beyond our control. Astrology has it share of week followers who would attribute their success and failure to astrology. They forget that Astrology is a tool to help us grow beyond our limitations and evolve to be a better soul/person.

I think Astrology has been misunderstood and misused for driving our life rather than to help us evolve and go beyond our limits. I believe that understanding of inner mind, Knowing our flaws and weaknesses should enable us to be able to fix them . The challenges we face in life we need to overcome with understanding and learning

I think we should use Astrology as a tool to understand the working of inner mind. That is why we need to be conscious and engage in life. Our chart highlights the area of challenges that we need to overcome at a subconscious level.

If we have good self-analysis, understanding of emotions and understand why we do what we do is a good start. Meditation if done correctly can help in balancing our emotions and will make us aware of our actions.

A astrologer can help you in your Self Analysis by looking at the chart and share the energies which is a driver for a behavior. This information can help a person correct /address some of the things and lead a better successful life.

Astrology Predictions  are like a weather report..

for be careful there is a possibility of rain tomorrow
  1. Someone decides to have fun in rain.
  2. Someone decides to not go out of the house.
  3. Someone decides to have a umbrella to not get totally wet.
So in some ways we have the free-will / ability / decision to action. The people who starts living their chat e.g I have these bad planetary positions that is why I am like that.. is the week people. With help of astrology we need to evolve to be a better person that is evolution.

How to Change Fate (Freewill) Astrology

Astrology is complicated and is Vast.

One needs to have the correct date time (some assessment can be made in absence, it is time consuming ) and location of the birth. I think, to be able to even consider an analysis by a Astrologer a astrologer should be able to tell some of the past events or some characteristics.. based on that one can consider the analysis done by the astrologer.

keep in mind we are responsible for all of our actions and have freewill and we don't have control over external factors.

Dasha system in Vedic astrology

In vedic astrology to check how, when and  karma ripen we use the dasha system. The dasha shows how our karma unfolds in Astrology. In vedic astrology, the dasha system is used to predict the future. Our life is related to our karma with all the soul journey life to life time. We are not aware of our past karma but this universe knows all our bad or good karma of lifetime to life. According to our karma we are born and feel the effect of in our consciousness to evolve in this lifetime. In vedic astrology there is a dasha system which calculated from the nakshatra of the Moon at the time we were born and found out the order of the dashas that will be followed.

The Moon in the Dasa Scheme.

The start of the first planetary dasha cycle is started from placement of the Moon at the time of birth. The Lord of the Nakshatra (corresponding star in the Moon sign) will determine the 1st dasha period. The percentage of the amount of distance traversed by the Moon through that Nakshatra is deducted from the balance of the mean dasha length to determine the first dasha length. Example - if the Moon had traveled ¼ through the Nakshatra of Bharani, ruled by Venus, then ¼ of the length of Venus dasa would be deducted from it's mean length of 20 years. Thus the first dasa would be Venus for 16 years.

The Vimshottari dasha is shown from the Moon because the Moon is the mind and the thought first comes in the mind. According to our thoughts we take actions. The Moon is the consciousness and it is where our past life karma  resides. When we run through planetary dasha, we get the effect from that planet based on our past karma with it and then we act upon it. If we have misused that planet's energy in past lives or in this, then we get a difficult effect. According to planetary dasha, we attract karma.

There are many dasha systems in vedic astrology that allow us to see karma unfolding in someone's life. The most prominent is the vimshottari dasha system. Vimshottari dasha have been found to be very simple and most accurate. It is a system that uses a 120 year cycle. Where each planet rules a certain number of years. which is also broken down into sub periods from there. The sub periods called bhuktis are in the same order and divided relative to the dasha length. The vimshottari dasha system gives very accurate results that predict what karmas will unfold at what time.

The planetary dasas in the vimshottari dasha system unfold in this order

1. Ketu 7 years

2. Venus 20 years

3. Sun 6 years

4. Moon 10 years

5. Mars 7 years

6. Rahu 18 years

7. Jupiter 16 years

8. Saturn 19 years

9. Mercury 17 years

All planets give results according to their signs, house they rule and in, and relationships with other planets in their vimshottari dasha. If the planet is good in the chart then, time will be good or if the planet is not in good dignity the time will be challenging.

Effect of planets during their mahadasha:

Ketu is the planet of detachment, non worldly and spirituality. Ketu is considered a malefic planet in vedic astrology. However, the result of Ketu depends on their placements in the birth chart. It could be malefic or beneficial depending on your birth chart. In general during Ketu dasha ketu attributes will be activated. Sun dasha shows the emergence of our power, individual identity, ready to shine from his light, no longer feeling the need to be supported by others. It is the time when we are finding our true nature.

Saturn is the planet of pain, sorrow, responsibility, limitations, boundary, restriction and death. Saturn is a malefic planet in vedic astrology. Saturn will give us the time to work through our karma in isolation.

In Mercury dasha is when we can become playful and non-judgmental. We learn and improve our skill, but through knowledge and clear thinking which is necessary to understand.

 Transition Periods Between Dashas

When these Dashas change, major shifts in energy occur. This is why people seem to change overnight, the dasha is what changes. To prepare us for these radical shifts the preceding bhukti period is always a preparatory time, whose energy is similar to the next dasa period.

Observe the last Bhukti of Ketu dasa is Ketu / Mercury. Mercury Bhukti prepares the worldly mind for the approaching Venus dasa, as Mercury is the builder and the planet that wants to tangibly manifest a worldly life, he helps to bridge the otherworldly Ketu to worldly Venus.

Vedic vs Western Astrology

Many people are confused about their rising sign; the planet's placement in the sign or in the house is not matching. What could be the reason for this? Have you thought about this? The reason could be the difference between Vedic (Indian) and Western astrology.

The basic difference between the two systems is that the Vedic zodiac is Sidereal and the Western is Tropical

The Tropical Zodiac is figured from the location of the Sun. When the Sun crosses the Vernal Equinox which is the midpoint of the extremes of the Sun's apparent distance as seen from the Earth travels from North to South during the year. In Western or tropical astrology the Sun's position on the 'first day of spring' designates the beginning of the zodiac's first sign (Aries).

Vedic Astrology has a very highly developed system of analysis. Vedic Astrology emphasizes on the house, signs of the planets, and their meanings according to the house rulerships. This system is not based upon the orbit of the Earth around the Sun or the seasons on Earth as is the Western tropical system. But it is based upon the actual placement of the Sun and planets in relation to the fixed constellations (Nakshatras).

In Sidereal (Vedic) astrology, the zodiac is aligned with 27 constellations or fixed star groups while Western astrology uses the moving zodiac. Because the earth tilts on its axis—known as the precision of the equinoxes. The zodiac appears to be moving at about 1/60th of a degree per year, which would make the current relative/movable zodiac almost an entire sign of the zodiac off from the fixed zodiac. The current mathematical difference between the two systems is about 24 degrees and you need to subtract 24 degrees from the planetary degrees in your Western chart to arrive at your Vedic chart. Because of this difference, you will most likely be your Sun sign back in Vedic astrology from the one you have in Western astrology. For example, according to Western astrology, your Sun sign is in Leo but In the Vedic system, it could be in Cancer.

The other difference between Western and Vedic systems is western astrologers use the degree of the Ascendant as the beginning of the first house. For them it does not matter whether houses are equal or unequal. But Vedic astrologers use the whole sign house system. Where the Ascendant degree can fall anywhere in the first house, but each house is considered as only one sign.

The logic behind why Vedic astrology is more accurate is because of the concept of dasha system used in vedic astrology. In Vedic Astrology we use nakshatra (lunar mansion) for dasha calculation. Dashas are predictive timelines based on the positions of the planets in the fixed zodiac. These “planetary ruling periods” are unique in Vedic astrology. We also use harmonic chart charts to look into more detail in the specific area of life but this system is not used by western Astrologers.
