Aspects/Conjunctions/Squares/Oppositions Astrology

In astrology, every planet aspects from where it is placed in the house. Aspects show how a planet spreads its influence on where it aspecting houses or planets in the chart.

In astrology there are many planetary aspects. In Astrology an angular relationship that the planets have with each other. This also influences  the planet within a house. Here the other planet affects it by giving its energy and affecting it in such a way as shown by the nature of the angle. Some angles are considered beneficial as the planets connected by these angles have an easy relationship with each other. Other angles are considered malefic as the planets have negatively affected each other. For example, Saturn represents restriction and Venus represents love. A conjunction of these two planets could indicate a restricted or cold love life.

Types of Aspects:

0° or within the same sign (Conjunction).

30° (Semi-sextile).

45° (Semi-square).

60° (Sextile).

72°(Quintile)

90°  (Square).

120° (Trine).

135°(Sesquiquadrate)

150° (Quincunx or Inconjunct).

180° (Opposition).

0° Aspects (Conjunction):  The Conjunction occurs when two or more planets are in the same sign. In other words, they are together in the same sign (Mercury, Sun and Saturn in the Gemini sign). In this case, the two or three planets infuse their energy into each other and influence one another. This is a very strong aspect where planets influence each other. A special form of this is when three or more planets are in the same sign and/or the same house. This is known as a Stellium. Whether this has positive or negative results totally depends on the nature of the  planets.

30° Aspects (Semi-Sextile): The semi-sextile is an aspect of 30 degrees; the relevant points are one sign apart and it is considered to be a weaker version of the sextile. Generally these aspects show a new kind of energy (unique information).

45° (Semi-square): It is considered minor aspect. The semi-square is an aspect of 45 degrees and may be compared to the effects of a square, only weaker. It tends to promote self-criticism and may indicate an inner feeling of irritation and/or friction developing and usually calmness of mind required for these aspects.

60° Aspects (Sextile):  A sextile is denoted when two planets are 60° apart. So this aspect is easy to spot when two planets are separated with one sign between them. For example, Mercury may be 16° Cancer and Jupiter may be in the following sign at 16° Virgo. With this aspect, the planets affect each other in a nice way, but this aspect is not too strong as in the conjunction. This is a positive aspect between the planets. These aspects affect the mental component of the person and express themselves in involvement with the community.

72°(Quintile): Two planets in quintile aspect form a symbiotic relationship. Each works with purposeful intent to help advantageously the other. Each willingly sacrifices its interests to the needs of the other. We could say that each planet helps itself by helping the other. The need with the quintile is to make use of the symbiosis. Otherwise, there develops a feeling of a lack of fulfillment and a disappointment of expectations.

90° Aspects (Square):  An aspect between two or more planets positioned at an angle of 90 degrees is called a square. Square as an aspect of constant inner tension and often demands great efforts to overcome any adverse situation over long periods. Square aspects offers numerous opportunities for learning and personal development.

120° Aspects (Trine): The trine is one of the aspects, consisting of two or more planets at an angle of 120 degrees from each other. The planets involved are said to be harmonious with each other. Astrology calls it a “benefic” aspect and trine aspects can provide fortunate circumstances and positive results in person life.

135°(Sesquiquadrate): This aspect can be challenging because the planetary energies are in conflicts in determined tension, control is required.

150° Aspects (Inconjunct):  The main characteristics of this aspect are adjustment, improvement and work needs to be done on themselves.  It often manifests itself as a difficulty in individual life. This is referred to as a Yod formation and denotes some difficulty in the person's life. Discrimination is advised with this aspects.

180° Aspects (Opposition): The opposition consists of two or more planets or horoscope points separated by an angle of 180 degrees; that is, on opposite sides of the zodiac. As the name indicates, the opposition is mostly an aspect of conflict and planets adversely affect each other. This aspect can be difficult for the person. The challenge here is to integrate.
