Living in the present, balancing Professional and Spiritual Life

You may have heard of living in present and not to worry about future.. but in professional life we need to work, plan and deal with every surprise that is thrown at you.

So how can we live in present and deal with the ambiguity of the professional life.

When we look at it we cannot become monks.. they don't need to worry about the future..as they live on donations and have the very basic needs.. there are no desires. Can we are living on donations of others and have no desires and can live with the minimum which is give to us by others.

The first KARMA is to take care of this body.. what ever it takes to do so..

When we live in this society we have family which has given us birth and taken care.. we need to give it back .. it is our duty to do so.. given the state of marriage and family .. we cannot afford to have a belief that it will all work out.. when we are in old age we may not be able to work.. government will not pay for our expanses and take care of medical needs. We need to do so.. to be able to take care of ourselves .. we need to have savings and need to plan for it.. If we don't have our children then it is all professional help .. which needs to be paid..

If we are living in the present and not have a family.. then we better be monk :-) as you need to have enough to be able to pay for yourself in the old age. (When you are living with very less anyways you don't need much when you are too old)

If you are living in the present and have a family... and your children understand their duties as you understand yours .. in someways you will have someone who will be able to help you in the old age.

These are contradictions in themselves, we need to choose or we can live with the state of mind as said of "living in the present".

LIVING IN THE PRESENT = DOING THE BEST WE CAN AT PRESENT

Without "doing the best we can in the present" there is no "living in the present".. to do the best we need to engaged in life and believe in KARMA.

The other statement used in context of "Living in the present" is "I have surrendered myself to god/universe" surrendering to what for what? I think we should not surrender our action.. I think we accept what ever is the outcome?.. is it escapism or not .. I'll let you be the judge for yourself..

Following are some of the statements that means the same to me ..
  1. Living in now
  2. Living in Present
  3. It is what it is
  4. It Does not matter
When I read these statements .. what it means to me is that .. whatever happened.. it is past.. learn from it and move forward.. "It doesn't matter" if I was wrong or "the best" ... it doesn't matter as it is the past, but I need to learn from my mistake and not do it again or move on in my life.. that's what matters

When it comes to "Doing the best we can in the present".. we need to be constant observer/learner and get better as the world is evolving..we should figure out our place in the universe..  we can choose our path of evolution, but need to make sure that we are able to take care of ourselves till the end of life and not be a burden on society. "Doing the best we can" is "Living in the present" as there are no regrets and we are willing to get better with constant learning.

We were all born Incompetent for today with no Communication Skills

If we look at it when we are born we didn't knew how to speak, we had no skills for us to be able to do anything. We are blank .. like a clean slate if you would. There was nothing, NADA, whatever you say..

Other than how educated , rich is our family and where we were born.. these are some of the factors which could be different from others... can be attributed to KARMA of past.. Other than that we all are the same.
  1. How we speak
  2. Do we get angry
  3. How do we deal with people around us
  4. How do we view things
  5. How we learn
Let's say we have 2 kids.. who are just born.. Given that there no difference between their families in term of finance , education and place. Following are some of the skills we use in every day life..

#IdealNot Idealoutcome
1Polite SpeechHarsh SpeechMost people like a person to be polite
2Healthy and CleanSick and DirtyMost people like a person a person who is taking care of health and appears clean
3Helping in NatureSelfish NatureWho wants a selfish person in their life
4Positive OutlookNegative OutlookWe all want motivation and helping people who has positive outlook as they want to find solution of their problems
5Always willing to learnDoesn't want to learnLearners are better positioned to deal with life
6Better communicationaverage communicationa person with better communication can get their point across and express their feeling correctly
7Willing to solve a problem ( being a leader)A follower who cannot do anything by themselvesIt is good to be a follower, but people want to solve problems and have some to give them clarity when there is confusion and no answers
8EnergeticLazyWho wants to have a lazy person around
9OrganizedUN-organizedWho wants to have a UN-organized person around
10Emotionally StableEmotionally UnstableWho wants to have unstable person around

If a person has all the "Ideal" skills .. how do you think their life will turn out to be.. and person who has "Not Ideal" skills .. how will their life will turn out to be.. It is a race to acquire better skills as soon as so we can have a better balanced life.

Most of us are evolving and trying to get into ideal side of things .. we keep on oscillating between Ideal and not so Ideal .. we are human and prone to errors , mood swings , anger and are challenged in life. Be it whatever your age.. 25,34,45.. the sooner we are on it the better it is for our life.

If we want to have a happy life we need to keep our mind and body in balance. We need to engage in life and have faith in KARMA. The more we do the better we get and evolve to be a evolved soul.

(As parents we need to teach/embed these skills in our children, there is no one else who will do it or they may learn by themselves after hardships in life.. as a parent we can at-least do this as a responsibility of bringing them into this universe.)

Astrology can help you understand your mind and influences on it.

Rahu (North Node) in 9th Ketu (South Node) in 3rd House Axis Astrology

Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node) are the soul purpose of life. Rahu is the future and Ketu is past. Rahu shows what we want, and it is an obsession over those things where it sits in the birth chart. Ketu is our past mind conditioning, it shows where we already dealt with and we don’t want anymore. Rahu and Ketu axis shows that, where a person is immature (Rahu) and needs to be matured and in where a person is matured (Ketu). Where Rahu and Ketu axis falls in the birth chart it shows the most spiritual growth for the person in this life. Rahu and Ketu are the points where Sun (soul), Moon (mind), and Earth (body) intersect in the sky. This point is very powerful and it compels us to think about, who we are and what is life about. Rahu and Ketu are the forces which connect us with the divine power.

Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node) in astrology are the demons. In hindu mythology the story of churning ocean of milk is related to our subconscious mind. Rahu and Ketu are lunar nodes who play a very important role in evolving the human consciousness. Rahu and Ketu are the confusion, illusion, and smoke that means the things are hard to understand. They always help to evolve humans consciously. They are always on the opposite axis, therefore they are always 180 degrees apart. Although they are not the physical planet, they are the most influential forces in our life.  Rahu/Ketu axis is the main force of karmic desire.

Rahu is the head who always wants to eat and it is obsessed over those things where it is placed. It is our inner present desire of this life.

Ketu is the body without a head and it is our past life experience. And it shows detachment, disinterest for those things where it is placed in the birth chart.

So what happened when the Ketu/Rahu axis fell in the 3rd and 9th house. Houses are the area of life. Rahu placement in the house shows the area of life in which we need to develop mentally and Ketu shows the area of life where we withdraw ourselves.

The 3rd house is the house of communication, skill, courage, will power, ideas, short distance traveling, neighborhood, and siblings.

The 9th house is the house of belief system, religion, philosophy, teachers, higher learning, long distance traveling and teaching of guru.

Ketu (South Node) in 3rd house: Means these people in their past or in their childhood, are good in 3rd house things. They are very intelligent, full of information, skillful, knowledgeable, practical and have logical minds. They know how to navigate with the people naturally. It shows the person has a lot of courage to face challenges in life without spiritual teaching and philosophy and this is what they need to develop in this lifetime.

Rahu (North Node) in 9th house: Means they are obsessed over developing higher wisdom meaning, purpose, faith in life and travelling around the world.  They struggle to find purpose in life. These people could be obsessed over religion or spirituality. They explore themselves and these people go through spiritual growth in life.  They choose worthy goals, obsessed with higher purpose and higher meaning and often be a great philosopher. These people studied all kinds of philosophical books. These people are quite philosophical and really trying to understand things that have  deeper and higher meaning. They could be attractive to foreign kinds of religion and foreign kinds of teaching.

Rahu in (North Node) Sagittarius and Ketu (South Node) in Gemini sign Axis:

Rahu (North Node) in Sagittarius sign: Being expanding their mind horizons, exploring the world, being understanding, philosophical, seeking the truth. They want to open new possibilities and be optimistic. Careful not get into the negative aspects which can be dogmatic, and have blind faith in things.

Ketu (South Node) in Gemini sign: Very good communicator, learn from others, curious, and have an inquisitive mind. They need to be careful not to get up in the negative aspects of Gemini which is being shallow and unemotional.

Soul Purpose: They need to expand consciousness and experience of different study, travel or contact with other cultures. These people have come here to learn about the bigger picture of life and should not be distracted. This keeps them achieving their highest goals in life.
