What is transit and planetary returns Astrology

In astrology, the term transits refers to the ongoing movement of the planets, in contrast to their positions at your birth.Transit refers to any planetary movement in current time. Transits are connected to current reality, and influence collective reality, the world we’re all living in together and on a personal level how transit affects your planet's in your birth chart. Keeping track of transits of planets is fundamental to understanding how the planets affect the world and your daily life.

The movement of planets around the zodiac differs based on the distance from the Sun and their speed is also different in one sign.

Transit or movement of each planet in one sign.

1. Sun: Sun stays in one sign for a month ( 30 days)  and transit (moves) to another sign each month.

2. Moon: Moon reflects the mood and flow of the day. Transit of the Moon is very fast. It takes less than one month. Moon goes through all twelve signs in about 28 days which means it transits approximately 2 1/2 days in each sign.

3. Mercury: Mercury transits varies because it goes into retrograde motion. Mercury takes around 1 year to travel through all 12 signs. But its stay in a particular sign ranges from 14 to 30 days.

4. Venus: Venus transits also vary. Venus transits for 23 days or sometimes over 2 months in one sign when it retrogrades.

5. Mars: Mars transit 2 years through all the signs and stays in a particular sign for about 1.5 months. But sometimes Mars transit can become unusual and it stays for 6 months in one sign.

5. Jupiter: Jupiter takes about 12 years to travel through all 12 signs which means Jupiter transits in one sign for 12 months (1 year).

7. Saturn: Saturn is a very slow moving planet and it takes around 28 or 29 years to travel through all the 12 signs which means Saturn transit in a single sign for 2.5 years.

8. Rahu and Ketu: The Nodes of the Moon always move in a retrograde motion and take around 1.5 years to transit through each sign.

Always read transits from the ascendant if you want to know the result in real life. And if you want to know the psychological effect then read from the Moon chart.

Planetary Returns: A natal planet returns to its exact birth position after completing a full circle through the zodiac. A planetary returns highlights of the planet’s new cycle and kind of the same theme during when you were born.

The Lunar Returns: This is a return of the Moon to its natal position each month. The time it takes for the Moon to return to the same point about every 28.5 days. Lunar chart shows inner and outer events from the perspective of feelings, and emotions.

Solar Returns: The Solar return in horoscope is a chart constructed for the time the Sun returns to its exact natal position (degree and sign). This is the return of the Sun to its exact birth position after every 365 days. It shows vitality, confidence and creativity.

Kaal Sarp / Sarpa Yoga and Remedy in Astrology

Rahu is the North Node  and Ketu is the South Node of the Moon. They are always moving in retrograde motion. Therefore they are always reflecting back in our mind. They work on a subconscious level and are forced to think about issues we have in our life. In kaal sarp yoga the planets are under some karmic pressure, and need to do work more on these planetary energies.

Kaal sarpa yoga means all the planets are between the Nodes (between Rahu and ketu).

Kaal sarpa means ‘’Time’’. Who is actually God. Krishna (Indian God)  says “Aham Kaal '' ( I am Time), in the Bhagavad Gita.  The person or who has kaal sarpa yoga in the chart is wrapped up in this life lesson according to their past life karma. Their destiny is not in their control, they are in control of divine power. They face many problems according to their past life karmas.

In kaal sarpa yoga there is some kind of subconscious processing going on and you might not know. Things that might not feel so present in your consciousness are just kind of digging deep into something which you don’t know. Those people have kaal sarp yoga, they used to sleep more than other people. And in transit mostly all the people feel sleepy in kaal sarp yoga. These Nodes generally activate a sort of psychic dream state.

Ketu is resolving past issues in this lifetime. Ketu resolves issues which has to do with things related to our childhood family. Even issues of this lifetime which we have deep connections in this lifetime.  These issues may not not just be from this lifetime but they are from many lifetimes. So there's a lot of churning going on trying to resolve these issues.

The Moon creates a kind of fog in mind when it comes to kaal sarp yoga. We may have strange dreams about unresolved things in dreams. And some kind of  deep, heavy thinking going on in the subconscious or unconscious mind.

But kaal sarp yoga affect everyone differently. It depend on the which axis Rahu and Ketu falls in birth chart. According to the kaal sarp yoga, we need to work differently.

Maha Shivratri and Meditation

We should  know what is the meaning of Shivratri and why we celebrate Shivaratri . We live in this universe on the planet earth.  Earth is part of the solar system and we have seven planets. In vedic mythology these planets are considered as GOD. Each  planet has its vibrational effect on earth based on their nature. They influence each and everything on earth whether living or nonliving beings. In astrology Moon is the mind and closest heavenly object to the earth that is why Moon has more impact on human psychology.

Maha Shivratri is a ritual performed on the 14th night of the New Moon in the month of Phalgun (Feb/March). This is the night when people worship “the Great Lord” Mahadeva.  The King of the yogis and the guru of gurus. On Maha Shivaratri it is traditional to stay up all night with your back straight and your mind immersed in devotion for Lord Shiva. Shiva is zeroness, Shiva is the ultimate power from which everything is created and everything will be destroyed. We all  come from there and we will go there after death.

Shivratri is related to the phase of the Moon every month. Shivaratri is celebrated  on the fourteenth night of the dark Moon of the month, the night previous to the New Moon when the Moon turns total blackout.  On the 14th night the Moon is in its lowest waning phase due that our mind activity is less and to connect with GOD  our mind should be clear regarding daily thoughts. On this day the Moon is waning and it reduces mind activity. Because of this it is very easy to connect with the lord shiva or awakening to higher levels of consciousness.  On  Maha Shivaratri everyone has the potential to awaken to the highest consciousness. On Shivaratri you can awaken the five parts of your brain; the parietal, the frontal lobe, the right and left hemispheres, the occipital lobe, and top of the brain, along with the midbrain.

Maha Shivratri  is a special time when you can pray for extraordinary boons for wealth, health and power. Lord Shiva directly interferes with and removes our difficult karmas, i.e. pain or dissatisfaction around money, health or relationships. Even the worst of karmas can be dissolved by praying to lord shiva and it is possible on the Night of Shiva.

It is easy to do meditation on the 14th night of the new Moon every month.

Lord Shiva is known as lord of transformation. In Hindu mythology the story of churning of the ocean milk in which poison came out is called ''Halahal'', and no one wants to drink. It was Lord Shiva who drank that poison after that he was also known as ''Neelkant''. The message behind this story is that; when we start analyzing ourselves then we come to know how much negativity (poison) we have in ourselves.  How greedy, hateful, jealous of others, until we accept this and try to change ourselves (drink this poison) of ourselves. Then we can transform or we can connect with Lord Shiva. So to connect with Lord Shiva we need to clear out our poison of the mind so that we become pure. If we can not be free of negative traits then we can not attain the blessing of Lord Shiva.

There is another significance of this day. On the day of night of Maha Shivratri, the planetary placement is such that there is a natural tendency for the kundalini energy, collected in the lower  chakra at the base of the spine. If you have enough spiritual practice ( follow righteous path) then it is very easy to raise up your kundalini ( Chi energy) and reach the chakra at the top of the head.

Safest way of awakening Kundalini energy can be activated by various means like yoga, breathing techniques (pranayama), certain herbal preparations, creating particular vibrations in the body through the chanting of mantras.

There is another method which many people use. It is easy but dangerous. And it is by through initiation (energy transmission) by a yoga adept whose Kundalini is already awakened. Kundalini awakening should be a gradual process. If some yogi raise your kundalini it will not work as it should be working because your body and mind channels are not clear. You should be aware that to raise kundalini shakti your mind and body should be clear. If not then, kundalini shakti or chi energy could  harm, because it needs a clear channel to flow in your mind and body.

Once awakened, Kundalini brings about extraordinary transformation in the body-mind system of the individual, including a huge surge in energy levels, the healing of chronic diseases and enhanced mental abilities.

As the Kundalini flows from the thalamus to the cortex, it sets up a powerful energy loop within the brain, generating coherent alpha and gamma waves, and awakening the dormant, non-mechanical parts of the brain which we have never used before. With increasing levels of coherence, the whole brain comes alive, turning into a super-conductor of conscious energies that heal, empower and transform our lives. Enhanced awareness levels, greater creativity and extraordinary abilities start to express through us like levitation, teleportation and materialization. Brain activation is also known to slow down the aging process and improve immunity to disease.

February 2022 Vedic Monthly Forecast

Planets transit in the Month of February

Mercury retrograde will end on February 3rd. Mercury has been retrograde since January 14th. The planet of communications, reason, making and decisions will slowly return to normal forward motion and its significations will also return to normal.

As Mercury heads towards the sign of Capricorn it will join Saturn. Mercury is under the influence of Saturn this month as Mercury transits through Capricorn. It gets closer and closer to Saturn, the planet of restriction and delay. So we can expect the beginning of Mercury to manifest a lot of the delays, especially applied to things like making decisions. Saturn is the reality check planet and when combined with the Mercury planet of rational thinking and making decisions it will make people humble.

Venus ended its retrograde period on January 29th. The significations of the planet of romance, compromise, agreement, and finance will slowly get back to normal as the planet returns to forward motion.

There will be Mars and Venus Conjunction from 11th Feb to 12th march. Mars combined with Venus puts the two gender planets together resulting in a lot of heat, passion, excitement and drama. But Venus has another problem to deal with. Mars and Venus are going to be in a planetary war and this planetary war starts in Sagittarius sign and it continues in Capricorn sign.

What is Planetary war? A planetary war or Grah Yuddha, happens when two of the these planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn) are within one degree of each other. What happened in Planetary war, one of the planets who is weak both as a signification and as a house lord, feels defeated, thus unable to support any of its significance and can never be stable.

In this planetary war Mars is the stronger of the two planets because it is in friendly sign of Sagittarius and exalted in Capricorn. Mars is the planet of force, but in Sagittarius it is very righteous. So it will not harm Venus as much. This war is fair and freedom giving. Although Venus' significance will not be fulfilled, still having freedom of your choice is a very big thing.

There will be a New Moon On February 1st in the Nakshatra of Sharvana. This New Moon is exactly conjunct with Saturn, the reality check planet. So this month to be very serious and ready to deal with realities.

The Full Moon on February 16th in the nakshatra of Magha.

There is kaal sarpa yoga that starts on the 23rd of February and it will be till 9th of March.
What is Kala sarpa yoga? This configuration happens when all the planets wind up on one side of the Rahu ( North Node) and Ketu (South Node) axis. Rahu and Ketu are the eclipse points at the intersections of the path of the Moon and the path of the Sun as seen from the earth. This is an unusual formation of planets. Basically it's an indication of some kind of an imbalance in someone's life. In other words all planets on one side of the zodiac with nothing compensating on the other side and the fact that the planets are captured between the Rahu and Ketu axis, indicates that the energy is being held back by some kind of strong karma.

This yoga is more normally employed in the analysis of natal charts. If some has this yoga in their natal chart, it means that person lives in uncertainty for most of their life.

On 4th Feb to 22nd Feb there is a conjunction of Saturn and Sun. So what happens is when a combustion takes place. The planet gets hidden behind the Sun and the Sun becomes all powerful. This combustion is generally expressed as frustration towards authority figures. But in conjunction with the Saturn also has influence on the Sun and this makes authority figures realize their mistake with time. The Sun will move into the Aquarius sign on the 13th of February.
