Exalted Planets in Astrology

In astrology to judge the horoscope it is very necessary to check the condition of the planet and how they will affect our life. There is a specific degree in the zodiac in which planets are in their highest quality or considered exalted point or fully awake (jagrat state). The exalted planets show the full strength. The planet must be in the early or later degree of the certain zodiac sign to be exalted and the more closer the degree the more effect will be felt.

Planets exalted point and their effect

Exalted Sun: Sun exalted at 10 deg. in Aries. When the Sun exalts, the person is inspired, able to sacrifice, humble, honorable, and have strong will power. Sun in Aries shows the necessity to act upon the highest soul’s purpose with courage. This type of action transforms the inner Sun from one of self-interest to do good for others.

Exalted Moon: Moon exalted at 3 deg. In Taurus. When the Moon exalts, the person is like to happy, sensuous, connected to own needs, and stable emotionally. Moon wants to stay happy all the time.  Moon gets every worldly thing in Taurus sign whatever it wants. This is the most enjoyable sign for the Moon but not necessarily peaceful.

Exalted Mars: Mars exalted at 28 deg. in Capricorn. When Mars exalts, the person is full of patience, focused, strong will, and discipline. Mars in Capricorn is focused on destroying problems, rather than damaging things, situations or people that make us happy. Exalted Mars is good for pursuing goals of this material world.

Exalted Mercury: Mercury exalted at 15 deg. in Virgo. When the Mercury exalts, the person is jolly nature, skillful, detail oriented, discriminative mind set, and sensible. This is known as Bhadra Yoga in Vedic astrology if mercury falls in 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th house. This yoga gives good capacity for neutrality for people and the situations. The person is good at understanding and detachment.

Exalted Jupiter: Jupiter exalted at 5 deg. in Cancer. When Jupiter exalts, the person is full of wisdom, loving, expansive, wise, gracious, and generous. The person grows and improves oneself through emotions. Opportunities come through one's expression of protective empathy and instinctive nurturing.

Exalted Venus: Venus exalted at 27 deg. in Pisces. When Venus exalts, the person is happy for no reason or happy in everything. The person is spiritual, devoted, and respectful in nature. Venus is the planet of desires and exalted in the mystical sign of Pisces. Pisces is a sign of flexibility. Pisces is the least worldly sign. Therefore Venus in Pisces understands universal love and has the capacity to give love.

Exalted Saturn: Saturn exalted at 20 deg in Libra. When Saturn exalts the person is balanced, has good judgmental power, practical, humble, and thriving in solitude. The person has an excellent sense of justice and a need to learn about the true nature of cooperation and mutual support. This nature provides service and practical sensitivity for all rather than fall into a fear, self-doubt, and sorrow.

Exalted Rahu: Considered exalted in Taurus. Highly ambitious and practical.

Exalted Ketu: Considered exalted in Scorpio. Good in taking risks and going deep into psychic transformative and fearless.

Exalted planets means the person's mind is fully aware of the situation or surrounding. There is a misconception about exalted planets that they always give good results. Result of the planets depends on which house planets rules and in where planets are placed in the chart. There are some difficulties felt by the people who have exalted planets when they rule dusthana houses (6th, 8th, and 12th house). Therefore every planet acts differently for each ascendant because they rule different houses. The planets are the force of nature that allow our higher consciousness to unfold through whatever they rule in the chart. The house of exaltation and debilitation shows, areas of life will allow the highest quality of the planet to unfold and through that area of life transformation will occur in life.

Let’s say a person is an Aries ascendant and Jupiter is exalted in the 4th house, and it rules 9th and 12th house. The 9th house is the lucky house and the 12th house is of loss. Jupiter is exalted for 9th house and 12th house. Jupiter exaltation means they are capable in finding their inner peace and spiritual wisdom. They are generous and helping in nature. So what result can be expected in Jupiter mahadasha because it rules malefic 12th house. These people have difficulties in their life related to the 12th house but because Jupiter is exalted they manage it. Those losses force them to look into their hearts for higher spiritual wisdom in order to surrender.

Another example if Scorpio ascendant have exalted Sun, which exalted in 6th house and rule 10th house. 6th house is dusthana house in astrology. Exaltation of the Sun in 6th house means the person faces problems in the career area. It brings enemies, competition and arguments which will teach the person humility and limited use of power. The exalted Sun for Scorpions will  make them mature. When a positive lord exalted in dusthana house, it shows the problem to the person in order to understand that area of life.

Those people have exalted planets in their horoscope; it doesn't mean they escape unpleasant parts of life. Everyone has to face unpleasantness of life but it matters how you face it. Exalted planets simply mean the person is mature and able to manage life in a worse situation with dignity.
